Hello
You have arrived at my website because maybe you need help with life challenges or relationships, or maybe you have suffered a bereavement or heard some really bad news about your health or the health of a loved one. It doesn't matter if it is one specific thing or many things. I am here to listen to you, to hear your concerns and dilemmas, and to help. This is your time to be heard; you are my focus. This is your time to be listened to and your safe space.
I believe the core principles in counselling are that every client has a right to autonomy, that you make the right decisions for you, that you have your beliefs and values, and that I honour that right to support you in being who you are. I strive to be trustworthy, nonjudgmental, and respectful at all times.
My Story
I am a fully qualified, insured Person-Centred Counsellor and a member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). I am based on the southern part of the Isle of Wight and I also work remotely online or over the telephone.
For over 25 years, I have owned Natural Clinics, working with people with illness, injuries, and general health and specialising in Lymphoedema, oedema, and Lipoedema. Through my experiences working with clients, I believe the key factor is that each client needs to be heard, understood, valued, and believed.
I ensure all of my clients receive an individual and unique treatment. I treat clients holistically; that the mind and body work as one. Pain, anxiety, stress and other symptoms may be a sign that a person's mental well-being needs a helping hand. This is one of the reasons that I decided to train further into counselling, there is no denying that the brain and body are connected. I had a general counselling certificate in my training as a complementary therapist but wanted to train further and develop my skill set and Person-Centred counselling was the perfect fit.
I work one day a week as a counsellor at the Wessex Cancer Support on the Isle of Wight. I have been a volunteer with Beyond Reflections working with transgender, non-binary and questioning clients. I have also worked with 16-24 years olds as a mentor/support worker to help them build their confidence and skills to live on their own.
I believe in continuing to improve myself and to follow my professional ethical framework, therefore, on a regular basis I attend personal supervision and frequently go on continuing professional development courses so that I continue to be effective as a counsellor as well as being safe and ethical within my work.
